| night and day difference from when it had cats, and then the cats were removed. The bottom end torque of his car was very notably diminished as compared to when it had the cats in it - so much so that it generated thoughts on ways to be able to get the backpressure back into the setup. Nothing else in his car changed except for that. What I believe is going on in terms of why this occurs really is inconsequential - perhaps it is blow-through due to the decreased backpressure in the exhaust that is dropping the low end torque, perhaps it is something else. I really dont know for sure, but that's my guess. What I do know for sure is that Dee's car had a dramatic drop in bottom end torque when the cats were punched out. It doesn't take a genius from that point to understand that for whatever reason, the backpressure was beneficial to torque production through the bottom end and midrange.
